Summary


Kindergarten - Second Grades: Meets Sunday mornings 10:30a.m. – 12:30p.m. Kindergarten students must be 5 by September 30, 2011. Curriculum will include holidays, bible stories, mitzvot, Jewish culture, and Hebrew readiness.

Third Grade: Meets Sunday mornings 10:30a.m. – 12:30p.m. Along with a Judaics curriculum, these students will learn to read Hebrew.

Fourth – Seventh Grades: Meets Sunday mornings 9:00a.m. – 12:30p.m. Curriculum includes Judaic studies, Tefillah (worship) and the teaching of Hebrew in order to read traditional prayers.

Eighth - Tenth Grade: Meets biweekly, 9:00 – 10:30 am. Students will gain a deeper knowledge of basic Judaism. Tenth Grade (Confirmation) students will participate in a special Confirmation Service at the end of the school year.

Tuition & Fees: All book fees are included.


 Tuition fees are not payable at the time of registration. School tuition will be billed with the Temple Beth Torah invoice.

Parents Who Are Teachers: As in prior years, teachers will receive a stipend. This year the stipend will be paid at the end of the school year. Full tuition will be invoiced with your congregational dues. 

First Day of School: Sunday, September 11th, 2011 10:30am - 12:30pm. We will have a short Meet & Greet followed by class time for the students, and a Parent Meeting. We will also be passing out the books on this date. Note: Students who register after August 1st may not have books on the first day of school.

Administrative Structure

The Religious School Board Chairperson is a member of the Temple Board and the religious school board. The Religious School Board consists of the Chairperson, three members appointed by the Chairperson, and the Education Director. The Education Director is normally a salaried employee of the Congregation.


Curriculum

For grades kindergarten  through grade 3, the curriculum focuses on basic education of our Jewish culture and tradition using hands-on, developmentally appropriate lessons. Third grade students learn to read Hebrew. For Grades 4 through Grade 7 the program takes a more focused approach to Judaic studies and Hebrew. All classes take place on Sunday mornings only.
